Commons to Receive $250,000 for Rectory Building from Federal Government

On February 3, 2026, H.R.7148 – Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026 was signed into law, and it included an appropriation of $250,000 for the rehabilitation of St. Peter’s Church rectory building as part of Church Street Commons. An application for funding from the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) was submitted by the Town of Hebron two years ago (on behalf of Commons CDC) and approved by Rep. Joe Courtney’s office for $500,000.

We greatly appreciate the support and persistence of Rep. Courtney and his staff in ensuring that a portion of this request was approved and funded. Thanks also to the Town of Hebron and Town Planner Matt Bordeaux for submitting the application.

The rectory building will be renovated to become rental units as part of Church Street Commons.
